The sample mean uses every observation. The median is the middle ordered value. The sample standard deviation measures typical distance from the mean, while the IQR covers the middle 50%. A boxplot flags observations beyond 1.5 × IQR as potential outliers. Histogram appearance also depends on class width, so decisions should not rely on one bin choice alone.
